On a recent visit to Amsterdam I stumbled across the new and beautiful Velour shop located in the 9 streets district. Among other things from the hard-to-resist shop, I got myself a pair of Clarks Desert Boots (in sand), and instantly became a fan of the British Originals.

Slamxhype delivers imagery of the reissue of a lesser known Originals model called The Clarks Ashcott. The sneaker, featuring the brand’s signature crepe sole and suede and leather uppers come in low or high-top version, both making a nice, sporty alternative to the Desert Boot.

Resting heavily on chinos, shirts and chunky knits the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection of Sweden’s Velour is actually not very different from the label’s past collections. Just take a closer look and you’ll see what I mean. None the less, Velour’s “Feelgood preppy” look (their words) is still one of the best coming out of Scandinavian countries in recent years. The collection is, as usual, all about “traditional garments redesigned in a new stylish yet effortless way”, but that’s exactly the reason why we like it so much. Sometimes it’s just ‘better the devil you know’…

For Autumn/Winter 2009–10 Swedish label Velour found muse in its home town of Gothenburg, drawing inspiration from the past glory of the city’s harbor and its industries.

It’s hard not to notice the mix influences of nautical dress (think voluminous knit) and vintage workwear (washed chinos, checked shirts…), all put together to create a vibrant contrast between functional wear and nostalgic romance, well in sync with the season’s trends.
