Diesel’s Streetwear label, 55DSL men’s collection for this summer is clean and simple with bright colors and sporty silhouettes. It’s an easy look with a bold, graphic personality and the use of natural cottons makes it cool with an elegant twist.

Shirts have a new lease of life thanks to acute attention to detail and a focus on fit. Cool cardigans come in vibrant summer colors with sporty pops, bold graphics and monochromatic dip-dyed treatments. Autumn’s colour-blocking is back in subtle shades, while metallic materials take over the “5 seasons Jacket.”

Pants are also taking a classic turn. A varied mix of chinos, both sporty and classic, as well as fresh lightweight cottons, classic twills and a military canvas all reaffirm a push to a more natural look. Jeans come in dark and light stonewashed varieties, as well as pastel-hued stonewashes.

Conceived in 1999 from a fusion of the ideas of two French graffiti artists, Hixsept is a label “constantly trying to mix art, graphic design and clothing. The artistic environment created around Hixsept makes it a brand with attitude, a graphical advocate through urban art.”

The label’s ss10 collection, based on the notion of drifting, features a graphical interpretation of workwear and naval influences. “This collection was conceived as a free form of creation, radically blue, floating from the pale to the indigo, navigating from raw material to a sophisticated end product. Yet another shop to produce its own lookbook showcasing its latest offerings, and this time it’s Vancouver’s Lark. The likes of Gilded age, Burkman Bros., Chimala and many more top brands are featured in this editorial that could be seen as somewhat of a ‘how-to’ guide for men this summer.

A new and exciting addition to Brussels’ fashion retail scene is ‘Hunting and Collecting’. With a menswear offering including some of our favorite labels and products from Common Projects sneakers to Petar Petrov jeans, Hunting & Collecting is of a new breed of concept boutiques aiming to curate and offer alternative emerging culture: fashion, design, art and lifestyle for the sophisticated customer.

Occupying a 300m2 space over two levels, the shop carries a constantly rotating selection of more than 30 exclusive brands for men, women and children. The store also provides footwear, accessories, design objects, and press dedicated to modern culture. On the lower level, a newly refurbished gallery space holds regular exhibitions, showcasing the latest works of artists and designers.

A fusion between jeans and chinos, these Denim Reverse trousers by German/Belgian designer Stephan Schneider don’t come cheap ($ 375), but considering the great quality and detail we’d say they’re worth saving our pennies or hammering the piggy bank.

Mr. Schneider is known for designing each piece of fabric used in his collection personally, spending half of his time with the textile and half with the silhouette. He has said “When your textile is strong, you don’t have to invent trousers with three legs”. We totally agree. The label uses its own production facilities in Belgian factories, where pieces are cut by hand and time can be spent on the finest finishing. Available from South Willard.

With its debut collection, Santa Barbara based menswear brand, Riviera Club toasts the legend of Bunker Spreckels, surfing’s “Divine Prince of Decadence”, who at the age of 21 inherited a vast family fortune. Traveling the world with a hired photographer and a surfboard, he lived a life of spontaneous extravagance and style, until his unexpected and mysterious death at the age of 27. Riviera Club relives Bunker’s times and travels through the detailing of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Signature items include: Baja-style poncho tops; crumpled, unlined chambray blazers; relaxed, over laundered shorts; sun-faded T-shirts; classic shirting with contrast facing; washed-out Henley tops and sweats with exaggerated stitched bib details; and easy-fit-chino-style pants.

As we told you a while ago, this spring sees the launch of Meltin’Pot’s new capsule collection named after its iconic jean MP001. On the arrival of the season (and the models on stock) the Italian denim brand releases more images of the featured items for our viewing pleasure.

The 5 pocket jeans, featuring a regular slim fit come in a ring/ring fabric in 12.5 oz. An exclusive and innovative wash treatment which brings out the contrasts of the indigo tones renders the jeans the “worn used” look with a soft and “velvety” effect. Colored jeans are also on offer, as the season’s collection is inspired by vintage Miami and entitled “Summer of Colour”.

Taking inspiration from desert nomads or ”The free people”, as they refer to them, Swedish brand NN.07 (No Nationality, 07 stands for the brand’s launch year), present their spring/summer collection in an impressive and somewhat romantic catalogue.

Featuring real tribesmen as models, the brand’s non-conforming mentality and independent spirit are conveyed through their subjects. Bold and pastel colored garments, treated to a weathered, sun burnt look, hint at the nomads as well as to their handicraft, while pieces are layered as if to serve as an armor, protecting from the harsh elements.

The brand’s environmental awareness also comes into fruition through the creation of meant to last, classic silhouettes: shorts, chinos, button-down shirts, Henleys and t-shirts; all featuring natural materials, attention to detail, fit and craftsmanship.

This season Gant’s Rugger line, addressing a style conscious young customer, has been meticulously re-invented. Largely based on archive and vintage Gant pieces the concept stands on a solid foundation of timeless American sportswear. It goes back to basics with the iconic pieces that constitute the very foundation of the Gant brand.

The line is built around a fictional character born and raised in NYC. His friends, travels, favorite books and music inspire seasonal varieties of classic Rugger high quality garments created with meticulous attention to detail. This season’s inspirational look is the effortlessly cool original preppy style created by the 6o’s Ivy League students.

I’ve got to give it to the guys of Apolis Activism – their recently launched spring/summer collection is simply one of my top favorites right now, and not because of intricate detailing or obscure innovations. From soft indigo basics to crisp chambray shorts and perfect woven plaids – all ready to be packed in the best tote for the beach – the collection is sharp, precise, uncomplicated and stylish, and has a certain intelligent appeal to it. Well done guys!

Lately we’ve been bombarded with news and innovations from Nudie Jeans. Those busy Swedes seem to never rest, constantly conjuring up the next wash, treatment or fit.

The inspiration for the S/S 10 Injection capsule collection is the color white. A Nudie Jeans kind of white. A white coating that brings to mind the flaking paint on garden furniture in a lilac bower. The kind of pale indigo bleached by the sun until it is almost white with only a notion of blue. Different shades of grey and indigo have been added to balance the color card.

The denim side offers new developments made exclusively for Nudie Jeans Co. For example a reversed denim with most of the indigo on the inside and a fabric with white coating. They will both give interesting inverted effects when worn in.

On the top side Nudie offers tees, shirts, sweatshirts and a denim jacket bleached down to white. All the tees are made in organic cotton and prints are made with inspiration from the Nudie Jeans philosophy.
