Brigade Fall 2010 Lookbook

Brigade, the Ohio based independent retailers, are joining the increasing number of stores creating lookbooks, based on a selection and styling of their own. Bringing together pieces from G-Star, Nice Collective, Nudie Jeans and other well established brands, Brigade put forward casual yet stylish fall looks, with clear military inspirations. Oi Polloi's AW10 Outfits

UK-based shop Oi Polloi continues to dazzle us with their AW10 goods. With an impressive lineup of garments and accessories from brands like Woolrich Woolen Mills to Nigel Cabourn, the lookbook featured outfits present a strong sense of the season’s spirit.

Only days after I told you about Wrangler‘s premium sub-brand Blue Bell re-launch, that we receive news of the brands pop-up shop opened in London’s Lambs Conduit Street. The Pop-Up Shop has been transformed for Blue bell to compliment the antiquated feel of the street. Warm woods and natural textiles have been utilized across the shop’s interior creating a welcoming environment, capturing the essence of the premium label. Blue Bell’s American heritage has been channeled throughout the store fit with subtle references in the vintage jars, antique striped cotton and painted flags giving an abstract take on the American Stars and Stripes. The collection hangs on vintage hangers on customized steel rails decorated with vintage, knotted handkerchiefs. Hurry up as the shop will only be open until the 10th of October 2009.

Staying true to their design philosophy of “you must create your own design style”, brit label YMC has opened their new London shop in Soho, using an eclectic mix of design references. This is reflected throughout the whole space, starting with the clean and minimal black shop front featuring a neon YMC signage also within the 500 square foot of shop floor, where striking pieces such as a two headed crow, bats and rattle snake skeletons sit alongside vintage furniture and old school gym fittings, which tie in the unexpected and macabre with humor.

The store is home for all of YMC’s new AW09 collections for men and women which takes inspiration from the harsh but simpler times of early 20th century, when clothes were basic, classic, and made to last.

If you’re looking for those rare ‘no big name, but big on design’ pieces head over to the newly opened NOT JUST A LABEL online shop. Things don’t come cheap at NJAL, but if you’ll invest right, maybe one day your acquisition will become a collector’s item, or as they call it: “Authentic luxury from tomorrows leading designers”.

I have been a long time fan of  Tyler Brule since his Wallpaper* days. With his new (and brilliant!)  magazine ‘MONOCLE’ he took things one step further and created the Monocle Shop which sells his design collaborations with the likes of Porter, Comme des Garçons, Orlebar Brown and Valextra.

For this spring Monocle has also teamed up with Woolrich Woolen Mills to create a limited-edition run of the perfect lightweight men’s jacket. Daiki Suzuki, creative director of Woolrich Woolen Mills, has designed the unstructured jacket exclusively for Monocle, with 55 available in navy and 55 in olive. The 100 per cent ripstop cotton garment, made in the US, features a pop-up collar, external and internal pocket details and a purposeful, utilitarian design.

The Monocle x Woolrich Woolen Mills blazer will be available from May online at monocle.com and through Monocle’s two shops in London and Los Angeles.
