The new, 5th Journal de Nîmes is out today and this time the theme revolves around British brands. The publication includes an interview with Nigel Cabourn at his Newcastle residence, a review of new British denim label Tender and a ‘very personal denim interview’ with Miles Johnson, head designer of the Levi’s XX department among other stories. Tenue de Nîmes’ new Journal de Nimes Nº4 was officially launched this week: “We decided to put our spotlights on France for this issue because the southern European country has always been a great source of inspiration for all of our concepts and activities. In this fourth release we publish our favorite French Treasures, such as diptyque and Ladurée vs. Nike. It also features another hand-drawn city map so with that in your pocket, you will not miss a single hot spot in the French capital. On top of this, our fourth Journal de Nîmes edition also contains the second part of Anneke Beerkens’ Masters research in youth culture and group dynamics in the underground Tokyo fashion scene, and we take an in-depth look at the history of the American shoe brand Red Wing”. Not the ones to rest on their laurels, while celebrating their shops first birthday, those busy bees have launched their Journal de Nîmes Nº3, dedicated to the country synonymous with jeans in their purest form – Japan. Inside the unique publication you’ll find a brand report about a true denim icon, Japan Blue, and their private label Momotaro; a section on great local finds, Japanese Treasures, as well as an illustrated travel map to Tokyo, and oh, so much more. In its latest issue Japanese magazine Sense paid homage to western wear. From cowboy to gold digger – modeled by Callum Turner, the looks are smart and current, like an exercise in western minimalism, with stylist Tomiki Sukezane‘s gentle, no-fuss touch and Photographer Junji Hata‘s crisp ambiance.

As if we needed more proof for the Japanese obsession with all things Americana – Free & Easy magazine seals the deal. Essentially a ‘how-to’ guide to live and look like a 20th Century American guy, this Japanese publication is a contemporary men’s lifestyle magazine focusing on the rugged side of American Heritage. From vintage denim and chambray to motorcycle maintenance and dog washing, Free & Easy go so far as to break down every material thing you would need to live “the lifestyle”. Although in Japanese only – their readership includes Paul Smith, Thom Browne, Nigel Cabourn, and Ralph Lauren. Pictorial perfect.
