Once again Britain’s Folk Clothing team with Matthew Donaldson and Zero 7 to produce their seasonal lookbook video. Take a look.

Always playful and crafty, British label Folk continue with their tradition of showing their collection in a video format. This time it’s the spring/summer 2010 collection which expands on previous collections with shirting and chunky knitwear that has become part of Folk’s DNA, complemented by what have previously been smaller elements of the collection in categories such as Jersey, Outerwear, and Accessories. Also to be expected this season the first Folk denim made in collaboration with Edwin. Turn on your speakers and enjoy.

Following their successful collaboration with Folk, denim brand EDWIN are at it once again. This time they have linked together with Oregon based mills PENDLETON to create a shirt featuring Pendleton Wool in an exclusive colour way, lined with Kaihara denim detailing. A little info on the Kaihara mills: Established in 1951 with 34 machines, by 1970 the Kaihara mill had developed indigo rope dying machines and started a delivery of rope dyed denim in Japan. By the early 90s the mill introduced ring yarn spinning and vintage production by narrow width shuttle machines. Kaihara is renowned for the sanforised selvedge it’s produced for decades. The Edwin x Pendleton Woolen Mills shirt is a special project with limited run of 300 pieces, available at retail in July.

Edwin‘s S/S 10 ‘ready to wear’ collection derives its solid aesthetic from the subject of ‘maritime’. With nuances of maritime history and culture, the resulting collection exemplifies the credibility and respect for a great time in history. Worn out vintage effects find inspiration in wave battered cliff faces and sea aged fishing boats and is applied to tees, shirting, lightweight jackets and outerwear. As for denim, Edwin’s core element, S/S 10 sees new lines, fits, classic styles reintroduced and brand new washes segmented into time periods that denote the natural wear process.

The seafaring, work-wear esque aesthetic compliments the denim to a tee, and is part of a concise and finely tuned collection, not too grandiose or diverse to alarm loyal customers yet strong enough to intrigue and excite the new breed.

The sharp eyed among you may notice a familiar shoe in the images. The fruit of Edwin and Folk’s collaboration for the next spring/summer is yet another part of Edwin’s effort to establish itself as a fully-fledged brand by broadening its spectrum and introducing its customer with a total-look, head-to-toe collection.

As I told you before, my shoe fetish knows no satisfaction. I try to tame it, but as the song say: “too much of anything is never enough”, and you must admit that a question of need is a question of taste. I saw these Shofolk harry low ankle boots on oki-ni and I asked myself “what have I done to deserve this?” With their rich coffee colored suede and contrasting white rubber sole and laces – it’s a sin! But look at my hopes, look at my dreams – I never thought I was so flamboyant. So “don’t worry” I said to the guy who pays my rent, “I won’t though I could“, ’cause I know – left to my own devices, I probably would… and now the question is “how am I gonna get through?” They are always on my mind. Well, I guess Se a Vida E’ (that’s the way life is)…

Edwin and Folk are two labels we’re really fond of here at Denimaniac; the first for its genuine jeans, and the next for their cool hand-made looks. You can guess how happy we were to learn about their collaboration for S/S 10. Together they have created a range of footwear pieces designed to complement the Edwin collection – taking the strongest elements from Folk’s flair for creating modern, classical footwear while incorporating classic denim detailing. We just can’t wait till we put our hands on their blue(‘s) shoes!
