German denim/casualwear brand CLOSED unveils its Autumn/Winter 2010 lookbook, boasting with dark and rustic yet sophisticated looks in presentation and garments alike.

Creased, dirty looking jeans and chinos in dark hues are mixed and matched with heavy knits and scarves for a rugged look, while fitted vests, jackets and coats provide an elegant touch. Key color is grey, well coordinated with camel, deep blue, smoked burgundy and olive green.

Together with Ian Paley of cutting edge UK menswear brand Garbstore, the design team at Closed has created a contained and precise capsule collection of essential pieces for Fall Winter 2010-2011.

The philosophy of the Garbstore label is richly ensconced in the history of clothing produced after the Second World War and draws influence from what can be coined “Unfamiliar Vintage”, familiar garments that reference the past but with a modern edge. For over thirty years Closed has been recognized and appreciated for its collections of casual sportswear. From strong conceptual beginnings, the roots of Closed have been denim and chino.

The project presented during the 77th edition of Pitti Uomo contains pieces which represent best the strengths of the two brands: sartorial piece dyed chinos from Closed together with heavy Japanese sweatshirting, marled long staple cotton t´s from Garbstore and a Japanese canvas cloth plaid felted wool lined parka from Garbstore with classic Closed outdoor vintage details beautifully constructed.

The color chart is reduced and muted, sophisticated and basic. Ochre, marl red, green and blue, khaki and black. Models: 1 chino, 1 parka, 1 sweat, 1 tee for men. Each piece carries the leather combined project logo and bears inside both companies´ labeling.

Not unlike their A/W 09 collection, Closed S/S 2010 collection puts the modern casual man right in the spot light. It takes on super basic, masculine ideas with classic, very definite menswear references. It changes it through a mixture of fabrics and authentic washes to create a cool and contemporary look. The combination of clean and slim fitted styles, such as formal jackets in washed cottons, and the more extreme, dirt washed denim or chino styles make the outfits.

All key trends for the next summer season are present in the Closed collection. Whether it be colored denim, workwear pieces or vintage detailing – this brands strength is in refining the influences and adapting them into a classic, homogeneous and effortless look.
