Acne F/W 2010 Denim Film by Andreas Larsson. Naughty. Very naughty.

You might find it hard to believe that ACNE‘s inspiration for its S/S 2010 Pop Classics collection was Native American looks. But maybe that’s what I like most about the Swedish brand – its subtlety. Season themes never take over the labels modern and refined sensibility, so the outcome is somewhat of an iconography of the subject. As always denim is a staple part of the collection with the signature raw denim and some new bleached out styles from tops to bottoms.

ANTI SWEDEN is the brainchild of Norwegian based design agency ANTI. They recently launched their first unisex jeans, remarkable for its graphic details. The same dark and disturbing graphic attitude can also be seen in the attention-grabbing images exhibiting the brand identity. Here’s a short Q&A with them devils:

How and why did you start Anti Sweden?

We started Anti Sweden as a tribute to the Norwegian Black Metal Scene, and to create a brand that challenged our neighbors in Sweden´s domination of Scandinavian jeans. Using our skills as designers and having worked with apparel brands before, we wanted to create something different than the normal apparel brands.

What’s in the name?

The name was chosen because it is defining us as an anti established brand and a tongue in cheek towards the Swedish lifestyle brands known from Sweden as Acne and Cheap Monday.

Tell us about the collection

We do limited editions, not regular apparel collections, we have one unisex model called 666 where we have worked together with San Diego based illustrator Justin Bartlett, we are coming up with a girl’s model and a t-shirt collection and also looking into some jewelry. We are also currently working with artists to do our next limited edition; it will all be inspired by black metal culture in a fashion context.

What lies in the future for Anti Sweden?

To do exclusive co-works with people who are inspired by the aesthetics of darkness. To produce limited editions that allows us to keep our signature and don´t adapt to the mainstream culture.

What makes you different from other jeans brands?

All the above, we have a strong history founded on the cult scene originated from Norway. If jeans are to be rebellious again we will make it happen

Not often you see a collection which you love everything about, but for me this is the case with Acne’s 2010 s/s collection. With its laid back nonchalant feel and a dash of sophistication, overall neutral colors with splashes of pop, great styling and (mmnnn…) those trainers – I can hardly wait till its summer two thousand and (a perfect) ten!

Enjoy this preview of Acne‘s Pop Classics for the upcoming winter season. As opposed to the main collection there’s abundance of color, which renders the word pop its true, fun meaning. Those Retro sport-chic styles and bright colors hold a promise to keep us cheerful even in those cold, dreary winter days.

Well OK – this post ain’t exactly about denim; it is about a brand that evolved from producing great jeans, to one that produces great fashion as well. I bring you the first look of Acne‘s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. Continue reading and get more images after the jump…

Using mainly dark colours, this collection is made rich and easy by its eclectic mix of materials as well as by the subtle variations of colour-combinations. Acne‘s man dresses always in layers, combining tone on tone burgundy with plum, cobalt blue with indigo and grass green with sapphire. His style is one where folk meets sport and scruffy meets elegant. Looks like it’s going to be a hot winter, huh…?

They say “don’t judge a book by its cover” – well yeah, ok, we know better than that. And so do Acne Jeans; Just take a Look at the “covers” they conjured for packing their goods, and you’ll notice they put as much effort into the packaging as to the products they offer. Some packaging items even share the same buttons, laces or textiles with the clothes they are supposed to carry. Job well done guys!

As you already know, chinos are back in mode. Although they are considered a staple item in every man’s wardrobe – this season they come with a twist. Acne have few of the best examples of this trend of colored chinos, or as they call them – pop chinos. I really like the blue ones (above), and think that they can provide cool summer refreshment for the usual denim pants. More pics after the jump… get them here.
