The Fall/Winter 2010 collection from Edwin is steeped in influences from America’s colorful and historic past. The influences resonate the dislocation and in turn ‘accidental freedom’ experienced by the post Vietnam late sixties generation where particular focus falls on the road and escapism. It’s not about running away it’s about embarking on the journey of self-discovery finding identity as an individual in a dysfunctional era. It’s a new dawn in society and the sub culture is about to get loud proud deep down and dusty!

The garments and overall collection styling represent the emotions and physical experiences gained through adventure and a ‘work hard, play hard’ hedonistic mentality.

Dust, dirt, grit, grime, beer and blood infect the washes of the denim giving a genuine ‘lived in’ feel. The shirting, jackets and knitwear are heavy and utilitarian representing the protective layer needed when living life alone on the road and on the edge – it’s the uniform of the nomad, the costume of the loner.

Besides its obvious application as a promotional tool the lookbook can basically serve as an excellent guide to what and how to wear this summer. Nigel Cabourn’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection ‘Burma’ is inspired by the contents of Nigel’s father’s army handbook. He used this as a diary during his time in India and Burma between 1942 and 1945. The photographs his Father J.E.W. Cabourn took on his box brownie camera and the clothing that he wore form the basis of the collection and is a tribute to him and his companions.

One of the stand-out pieces from the master-craftsman’s authentic collection is the ‘Edgar Indian Drill’ holdall. Made from dead stock 1942 British army Indian khaki Drill cotton (an authentic WWII fabric) and premium tan leather trim, this bag has one large internal compartment, it fastens with a heavy duty khaki zip and has both carry handles and a long shoulder strap. Tanner Goods‘ Standard Belt emphasizes classic, utilitarian styling. It is constructed from 9/10 oz. heavyweight English Bridle leather that will age beautifully over time, enhancing the color and character of the leather. This belt features a black roller buckle and keeper, hand burnished edges, and two double capped black rivets. Each is branded and stamped by hand. Milan Vukmirovic‘s s/s 2010 collection for Trussardi 1911 displays his playful interpretation of the Wild West. From Native American motifs to references of a saloon bartender, the collection features an attractive array of meticulously detailed garments and accessories, we’ve come to expect from the Italian luxury brand.
